Dal 2000, quando iniziarono i negoziati per l’adesione, la Romania si sforza di mantenere gli impegni assunti: i funzionari di Strasburgo hanno riconosciuto gli sforzi compiuti da Bucarest, soprattutto nella lotta alla corruzione e nella riforma del sistema giudiziario. Romania e la Bulgaria saranno i paesi più poveri dell’Ue: malgrado la crescita economica sostenuta, gli stipendi sono aumentati di poco. Tra i ventisette paesi membri che conterà l’UE dal prossimo gennaio, la Romania occupa il settimo posto in base al numero degli abitanti. Nel parlamento europeo avrà trentacinque parlamentari che verranno eletti nelle elezioni europee del 31 dicembre del 2007 - riporta Mihaela Iordache per Osservatorio sui Balcani.

E bloccare la vendita di armi nelle zone di conflitto dei paesi poveri.
