È padre di quattro figli e vive nei dintorni di Bamako (Mali) e ha tenuto questa relazione al recente Convegno di Missione Oggi e e Europafrica-Terre contadine su "Cibo e mercato: produttori e consumatori del mondo insieme per la sovranità alimentare". La sovranità alimentare, per noi contadini soprattutto dell’Africa, rappresenta l’ultima opportunità di metterci in piedi e camminare con le nostre gambe. L’Africa è un continente dove la popolazione contadina è ancora la grande maggioranza: coloro che vivono con l’agricoltura direttamente o indirettamente sono il 75-80% della popolazione. Il più grande pericolo che abbiamo oggi sono gli Ape (Accordi di partenariato economico) che l’Europa vuole farci firmare e che ci spingono ancor più ad aprire i mercati.
