With two of every three children facing some form of physical abuse, an official study, "Child Abuse: India 2007," has suggested that the issue be placed on the national agenda. Fifty percent of the abusers are people known to the child or in a position of trust and responsibility.

Siccità, alluvioni, terremoti, tsunami: questi i principali drammatici effetti dei cambiamenti climatici che colpiranno il pianeta nel decennio 2005-2015 mettendo in pericolo la vita di 175 milioni di bambini ogni anno, cifra che segna un aumento del 40% rispetto al decennio precedente. Si stima che, entro il 2010, a causa dei mutamenti climatici, ci saranno circa 50 milioni di sfollati, gran parte dei quali saranno donne e bambini, mentre la percentuale della popolazione mondiale che rischia di essere contagiata dalla malaria, una delle principali cause di mortalità infantile, salirà dal 45 al 60% nei prossimi cento anni. È quanto emerge dal rapporto lanciato oggi da Save the Children.
