10/31/2005 Sarajevo joined Turin, Jerusalem and Rome and signed the Olympic Armistice Appeal. The official signing ceremony was held last Wednesday, October 26, at the Olympic Museum at “Zetra” sports Centre in Sarajevo.

10/28/2005 Con 700.000 alberi piantanti solo nel 2005, il progetto di riforestazione "Tree is Life - Albero è vita" ha ricevuto il primo premio nella categoria delle organizzazioni non governative dalla Total Eco Challenge, progetto ambientale della Total Limited kenyota. Una vera soddisfazione accolta con molta gioia dai responsabili di progetto, "a dimostrazione di come la cooperazione tra comunità, in questo caso il Trentino e Nyahururu, abbia una forza superiore alla cooperazione delle grandi organizzazioni, che impiegano ingenti capitali ma non sono affatto radicate, come gli alberi, nel territorio". E la forza di "Tree is Life" sta proprio nella sua presenza capillare all'interno della comunità: per la sua realizzazione sono stati coinvolti complessivamente 60 gruppi e 60 scuole e in ogni villaggio della zona di Nyahururu c'è un vivaio curato dalla stessa comunità.

10/27/2005 Hanno fatto sentire la loro voce questa mattina i rappresentanti della Campagna Sbilanciamoci! e delle ONG, saliti fino nel salone de' Dugento di Palazzo Vecchio a Firenze per protestare contro i nuovi tagli del governo alla cooperazione internazionale. Proprio a Firenze infatti, si aprivano oggi le giornate della cooperazione organizzate del Ministero degli Affari Esteri. I manifestanti hanno pacificamente "invaso" la sala dove si svolgeva un Forum sulla "Proposta italiana ed europea per gli Obiettivi del Millennio", al quale fra gli altri partecipavano il sottosegretario agli esteri Alfredo Mantica, il direttore generale della Cooperazione Italiana, Giuseppe Deodato che ha accolto il pacifico blitz con apparente apprezzamento per la "civiltà" della protesta che dimostra "l'attenzione che c'è nel nostro paesi verso questi temi". Durante il Forum alternativo della Cooperazione Internazionale è stato presentato il “Libro bianco sulla cooperazione allo sviluppo 2006”, un dossier completo sullo stato della coperazione italiana, che contiene anche le proposte alternative della Campagna.

"Trionfalismo smentito dalle cifre, l'Italia è all'ultimo posto nella classifica OCSE". “La difficile congiuntura economica internazionale di questi anni non può essere un alibi”, continua Marcon. A questo riguardo analizzando i dati si osserva come altri Paesi dell'Unione Europea hanno significativamente incrementato le risorse per la cooperazione internazionale: la Spagna li ha raddoppiati, la Francia è arrivata allo 0,34%, mentre i Paesi del Centro e Nord Europa (Olanda, Danimarca, Svezia, Norvegia e Lussemburgo) hanno confermato quote superiori allo 0,7%, già raggiunto da alcuni anni. La storia del nostro paese è piena negli ultimi anni di patti sottoscritti e mai mantenuti.
