05/31/2006 The European Union Foreign Ministers on Monday ordered the listing of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) as a banned organisation. Western diplomats said that the decision was taken at a meeting of the General Affairs and External Relations Council in Brussels.

05/30/2006 Dosadašnji generalni sekretar Medjunarodne unije za ocuvanje prirode (IUCN) Ahim Štajner izjavio je da je ta organizacija donela “veoma smišljenu odluku” da otvori programsku, regionalnu kancelariju za jugoistočnu Evropu u Beogradu u nameri da pomogne svojim savetima, ali i u usklađivanju nacionalne politike očuvanja prirode sa zakonima Evropske unije, u procesu evrointegracije.

Orfani di Aids in Etiopia
05/30/2006 “L’impegno italiano nella lotta all’Aids č fatto di promesse, molte delle quali non mantenute. L’Italia non puņ pił tradire gli impegni presi in sede internazionali e soprattutto di fronte ai 40 milioni di sieropositivi di tutto il mondo”. Questa la richiesta che Marco De Ponte, segretario generale di ActionAid International, rivolge alle autoritą politiche italiane alla vigilia dell’apertura della Sessione Speciale dell’Assemblea Generale delle Nazioni Unite (UNGASS), nel corso della quale verrą fatto il punto sullo stato di diffusione dell’Aids e verranno definite le linee politiche future della risposta globale alla pandemia. La legge finanziaria 2006 ha tagliato 245 milioni di euro al capitolo di spesa che tradizionalmente finanzia il Fondo Globale, facendo venire a mancare i 130 milioni di euro ad esso destinati per l’anno in corso. “Chiediamo al Consiglio dei Ministri di emanare urgentemente un decreto che consenta l’erogazione dei 150 milioni di euro che l’Italia deve Fondo Globale per la Lotta all’Aids, Tubercolosi e Malaria”.

05/30/2006 "L'Italia rilanci una politica giusta di lotta alla povertą attuando appieno la cancellazione del debito nel rispetto nel della legge 209. Al Governo entrante chiediamo di aprire una stagione nuova di solidarietą e cooperazione italiana con una coerente cancellazione del debito" - chiede la Campagna Sdebitarsi. La settimana scorsa il Governo uscente ha presentato in parlamento la relazione sull'applicazione della legge 209 che disciplina la cancellazione del debito da parte dell'Italia. "La prima denuncia che doverosamente avanziamo č per il ritardo vergognoso con cui la relazione č stata presentata: la legge 209 prevedeva che ciņ avvenisse entro il 30 settembre del 2005". Purtroppo la relazione non dice nulla di nuovo e conferma la tendenza sviluppata nel corso degli anni di governo Berlusconi in linea con il progressivo azzeramento degli impegni nel campo della lotta alla povertą e finanziamenti allo sviluppo, restringendo al minimo le cancellazioni previste dalla legge 209.

All the visitors of the third in a row Bosnia and Herzegovina Film Festival BHFF, held at the end of May of this year at the Antology Film Archives in New York, could testify that every joke has at least a trace of truth in it. The common denominator of the eight documentaries, two long features, seven short features and seven animated films presented at the BHFF was to be found in the subjects of identity, survival and justice in war-time and post-war Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Indonesia: primi soccorsi ai terremotati
05/29/2006 Sale il senso di abbandono e disperazione fra i sopravvissuti di Java: a quasi 48 ore dal terremoto, migliaia di persone scampate al sisma non hanno ricevuto né cibo, né acqua per tutto il giorno, mentre una pioggia torrenziale colpisce la regione. Intanto il Ministero delle attivitą sociali ha aggiornato i dati sulle vittime: oltre 4 mila, suddivisi fra la regione speciale di Yogyakarta e Bantul (4611); nella sola reggenza di Klaten nella provincia di Java centrale, le vittime sono state 1542. Medici Senza Frontiere (MSF), presente a Yogyakarta con un'equipe di due persone sta inviando aiuti, ma la circolazione č estremamente difficile a causa degli ingorghi e al fatto che l'aeroporto non funziona. Tra oggi e domani, tre tonnellate di materiale medico e logistico saranno inviate via camion e via aereo. Da molti Paesi iniziano intanto ad arrivare aiuti e anche il nostro ministero degli Esteri ha allestito un volo speciale con 27 tonnellate di beni umanitari. L' Unione Europea č pronta a sbloccare fino a 3 milioni di euro in aiuti umanitari, ma solo 500mila dollari sono stati stanziati dagli Stati Uniti.
