Is urbanisation essential for economic growth?
06/29/2007 A UN Population Fund (UNFPA) report indicates that more than half the global population, projected at 3.3 billion, will be living in towns and cities by 2008. In Asia the urban population will increase from 1.36 billion to 2.64 billion while Africa's urban population will go up from 294 million to 742 million, and that of Latin America and the Caribbean from 394 million to 609 million.
