The Soros Fundation, in cooperation with the Albanian Helsinki Committee and the Children’s Human Rights Centre in Albania – CRCA, organized today the seminar “The implementation of the National Strategy for improving of Roma’s conditions in Albania,” at the Tirana International Hotel. The seminar aimed to raise public awareness and to inform the interested parties about the results of ongoing monitoring of the National Strategy for Roma.

Mrs. Frederique de Man, the Dutch Ambassador to Macedonia, and Vladimir Milcin, the Executive Director of Foundation Open Society Institute (FOSIM), signed an agreement for cooperation and implementation of “Equal Education Opportunities for Roma Children” project. Mabera Kamberi, Senior Advisor at the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies and coordinator of Governments Programme under the Roma Inclusion Decade, was also present at the signing ceremony.

The European Centre for Minority Issues (ECMI) assessed the 2006 Parliamentary Elections as successfully conducted. ECMI’s assessment was based on the reports submitted by the 26 accredited election monitors, who observed both the election campaigns and the ballot day activities.

The South East Europe Media Organization (SEEMO) has published the book, titled "Media and Minorities in South East Europe." The book includes reports on the media of ethnic minorities in 17 countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Hungary, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Kosovo, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey and Ukraine.
