An office in a Mumbai brothel is bringing out India's first newsmagazine for sex-workers. The Red Light Dispatch will help these women to voice their problems and dreams, and help connect them with the masses, says the magazine's editor Anurag Chaturvedi.

Dopo ventidue anni di negoziati e accesi dibattiti, l’Assemblea Generale dell'Onu ha approvato ieri la Dichiarazione dei diritti dei popoli indigeni, un documento non vincolante che mira proteggere i diritti di circa 370 milioni di appartenenti ai popoli indigeni nel mondo. Hanno votato a favore 143 nazioni, 11 si sono astenute e quattro - Australia, Nuova Zelanda, Canada e Stati Uniti - hanno votato contro. Celebrano le associazioni per la difesa dei diritti delle popolazioni autoctone: "Tripudio per l'approvazione" - commenta Survival International riportando i commenti di diverse popolazioni indigene del mondo. "Un passo storico" - afferma l'Associazione per i popoli minacciati (APM). La dichiarazione sancisce i diritti dei popoli indigeni alla proprietà della loro terra e a vivere come desiderano e afferma, inoltre, che non possono essere sfrattati dai loro territori senza il loro libero e informato consenso.

Si è concluso ieri a Marghera il Forum di Sbilanciamoci! "L'impresa di un'economia diversa": quattro giornate di incontri, dibattiti e workshop sulle alternative per la costruzione di un nuovo modello di welfare e di economia. Circa 400 partecipanti hanno assistito ai dibattiti nei quali sono intervenuti ospiti italiani e internazionali e sette esponenti del Governo: i ministri Bindi, Ferrero, Mussi e Pecoraro Scanio, i viceministri Visco e Sentinelli, e i sottosegretari Cento e Gianni. "Una presenza che è il riconoscimento al lavoro che abbiamo fatto in questi anni e alla serietà delle nostre proposte" - ha commentato il portavoce del Forum, Giulio Marcon. "Ci attendiamo ora dal governo passi concreti su welfare, scuola, ambiente, sanità, cooperazione internazionale. Due obiettivi su tutti, la riduzione delle spese militari e la tassazione delle rendite e dei redditi più alti".
