Dusica Radojcic from Zelena Istra environmental NGO reports for Alert that in international conference will be held in Portoroz, Sloveni, on June 5-6, 2006. The conference, Strategy for Sustainable Development of the Adriatic is organized by the Slovenian Ministry of Environmental Protection and Urban Planning, in cooperation with UNEP/MAP INFO/RAC.

Kako za portal Alert piše Dušica Radojčić iz Zelene Istre u Portorožu se 5. i 6. 6. 2006. održava međunarodna konferencija pod nazivom "Strategija održivog razvoja Jadrana", koju organizira slovensko Ministarstvo zaštite okoliša i prostornog planiranja u suradnji s UNEP/MAP INFO/RAC. Stoga su Zveza Ekoloških Gibanj (SLO), Zelena Istra (HR) i Legambiente FVG (I) susret pod nazivom Međunarodni alternativni forum Sjevernog Jadrana organizirali istog dana tj. 5. 6, na Svjetski dan zaštite okoliša.

A controversial study by an Australian university says that coastal mangroves and green belts offer little protection against the power of the tsunami. The study overturns claims that death rates were lower in villages shielded by mangroves during the tsunami that struck in 2004.
