08/24/2006 Ruotsin geologian tutkimuslaitoksen tänään päättämissä kartoituksissa on löydetty jo 3500 myrkkytynnyriä meren pohjasta Sundsvallin edustalta. Paikallisten viranomaisten mukaan elohopeaa sisältäviä tynnyreitä voi olla jopa 21 000. Ruotsin geologian tutkimuslaitos jatkaa kartoituksia ensi vuonna, jos rahoitus järjestyy.

08/23/2006 Itämerestä, Ruotsin rannikolta on löydetty 30 tynnyriä elohopeaa. Luonnonsuojelujärjestö WWF varoittaa meren pohjassa tikittävästä aikapommista. Sundsvallissa sijainnut paperitehdas upotti tynnyrit mereen 50- ja 60-luvuilla. Mereen joutuessaan elohopealla voi olla vakavia vaikutuksia ympäristöön. WWF vaatii tynnyreiden pikaista nostamista ja käsittelyä.

08/18/2006 The Indian Supreme Court has said that Blue Ship, owned by Malaysia's Star Cruises Limited, has only been granted permission for anchoring at a safe place in the territorial waters of India. The court said no permission whatsoever has been granted for breaking of the ship and that any precipitate action to break the ship without the court's express permission will be dealt with severely, says Press Release by Global Platform on Ship-breaking.

08/17/2006 Indian and international NGOs have said that the controversial cruise liner Blue Lady finally beached on Indian independence day off the Alang coast near the west Indian state of Gujarat. The ship was allowed to anchor in Indian waters on humanitarian grounds by the Supreme Court.
