World leaders aimed to ensure universal access to HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and care by 2010, but they have not provided the funds to accomplish those goals. Until a scientific or financial breakthrough is made the disease will continue to ravage poorer countries and communities and undermine efforts to reduce poverty worldwide.
