UN Study
A new U.N. report in India has warned that the country's booming economic growth could slow if HIV-AIDS continues to spread unchecked. The United Nations says 5.7 million people are infected with HIV in India - the largest number in any country in the world.

Malati di Aids in Africa - da MSF
07/15/2006 La multinazionale farmaceutica Abbott continua a negare a troppi malati la nuova versione di un importantissimo farmaco contro l’AIDS: il lopinavir/ritonavir. A denunciare il comportamento dell’azienda è l’organizzazione internazionale di soccorso Medici Senza Frontiere (MSF). Solo dopo lunghe e forti pressioni la Abbot ha iniziato a inviare la nuova versione del farmaco a un numero limitato di progetti di MSF in Africa al prezzo di 500 dollari per paziente per anno. Tuttavia, la casa farmaceutica rifiuta di venderlo a MSF per i suoi programmi in Tailandia e in Guatemala e continua a ritardarne la registrazione nei paesi in via di sviluppo. Il risultato è che la nuova versione del lopinavir/ritonavir non è né disponibile né accessibile per la grande maggioranza dei pazienti che ne hanno bisogno.
