In today's world of plenty, close to 1 billion people still don't get enough food to meet their basic nutritional needs. Science and aid can help stem the crisis, but a full reversal will require amending the global economic mechanisms that perpetuate poverty.

WASHINGTON, Jul 18 (OneWorld) - Today's kidnapping of two French aid workers in central Afghanistan represented another blow to humanitarian groups committed to helping those in the greatest need around the world.
