Desde que terminó la dictadura militar en Brasil, que implantó un régimen represivo con asesinatos, desapariciones y torturas entre 1964 y 1985, ningún responsable por esos crímenes fue investigado, juzgado ni condenado. Después de casi treinta años, el Estado de Río de Janeiro decidió indemnizar a los que sufrieron torturas en ese período.

E' in corso in tutta Italia la "Settimana dei Ragazzi" (24-30 maggio) lanciata dall'Unicef per festeggiare il 30° anniversario della nascita del Comitato Italiano per l'Unicef. Oggi, 27 maggio ricorre il tredicesimo anniversario della ratifica da parte del Parlamento italiano della Convenzione sui diritti dell'infanzia. Sono circa 400 mila i minorenni sono sfruttati nei luoghi di lavoro del nostro Paese, documenta una ricerca dell'Ires presentata il mese scorso.

Za većinu ljudi slika koja se nameće kad se spomene ropstvo je slika trgovine robljem preko Atlantika. Slika je to kupnje i prodaje, transporta brodovima s jednog na drugi kontnent, te ukidanja ropstva početkom 19 stoljeća. Čak i kad ne znamo ništa o ropstvu, razmišljamo o njemu više kao u tamnom dijelu naše povijesti nego kao kao dijelu naše sadašnjosti. Ali stvarnost je da se ropstvo nastavlja i DANAS!!!

"What I fear most are checkpoints," says Miki Kratsman, a photographer with the Israeli daily Haaretz. "It doesn't matter if it is an Israeli checkpoint or a Palestinian checkpoint.
