Over the last three weeks, the armed opposition group has intensified efforts to re-recruit child combatants released by Colonel Karuna, a renegade rebel commander defeated by its forces in April.

06/29/2004 Sanja i Muhamed Pilavdzic bili su u braku samo tri mjeseca kada su odlucili da pobjegnu sto dalje od ratnih strahota u Sarajevu. Ona je prije rata radila kao sluzbenik u TAS-u, a Muhamed, masinski inzenjer, u Vojnom vazduhoplovnom zavodu “Orao”. Prvo su se obreli u Beogradu, a onda su na poziv prijatelja dosli u Igalo. Bio je maj 2002. godine. Mladi par, koji je imao veliki broj poznanika, a Muhamed i kolega, u to vrijeme se m-nogo druzio i izlazio sa Novljanima. Bilo je to i razumljivo, jer u hotelskoj sobi Mediteranskog centra, gdje su bili smjesteni, nijesu se mogli osjecati komotno.

06/29/2004 Après 20 jours de détention, Gustave Kalenga Kabanda, éditeur-directeur de "La Flamme du Congo", hebdomadaire paraissant à Kinshasa, a été libéré, le 26 juin 2004 en début de soirée, sur décision du parquet général près le tribunal de Grande Instance de Kinshasa/Gombe. Le journaliste a payé une caution de 20 000 francs congolais (environ 53 $US).

In particolare, è urgentemente necessario chiarire quale sarà il destino di migliaia di prigionieri e il ruolo, la responsabilità politica e quella giuridica della Forza multinazionale. In un rapporto reso pubblico oggi, intitolato "Iraq: la protezione e la promozione dei diritti umani sono fondamentali nel periodo di transizione", Amnesty International ha chiesto a tutte le parti coinvolte in Iraq di prendere una posizione netta sul rispetto del diritto internazionale.

06/26/2004 Oggi, sabato 26 giugno, in occasione della Giornata internazionale per le vittime della tortura, la Amnesty International organizza a Roma una manifestazione–spettacolo per rilanciare la richiesta al Parlamento di una legge che introduca il reato di tortura nel codice penale. Lo scorso aprile la Camera aveva approvato un emendamento della Lega Nord secondo il quale, perché si possa ravvisare il reato di tortura, occorrono "violenze e minacce reiterate": emendamento che ha suscitato le proteste di moltissime associazioni.

06/25/2004 Prije nekoliko dana završen je projekat pod nazivom ''Bezimena djeca'' koji je pokrenut od strane institucije ombudsmana RS i BiH, a uz finansijsku podršku UNICEF-a. Ova akcija je pokrenuta kad su ''pronađena'' dva dječaka bez imena i bez upisanih podataka u matične knjige rođenih. O ovom problemu, ali i o drugim nadležnostima institucije ombudsmana razgovarali smo sa Brankom Kolar Mijatović, ombudsmanom RS.
