02/20/2007 Sempre poco spazio da parte di stampa e tv italiani alle crisi umanitarie: alla tubercolosi, che contagia 9 milioni di persone e ne uccide 2 milioni ogni anno, i telegiornali hanno dedicato solo 3 notizie nel corso del 2006. Alla malaria, che uccide un bambino ogni 30 secondi, 6 notizie, di cui ben 4 sulla morte di un italiano che ha contratto la malattia in Congo. Sconcertante il confronto con l'influenza aviaria, che ha fortunatamente registrato solo 116 casi e 80 morti in tutto il mondo: a questa pandemia solo “potenziale”, sono stati dedicati ben 410 servizi dai TG. E' il risultato del terzo "Rapporto annuale sulle crisi dimenticate" da quotidiani, periodici e telegiornali italiani promosso da Medici senza frontiere che lancia la campagna “Dimmi di piů”.

02/07/2007 Three staff members of Akuna, a bimonthly trade union newspaper, were seized on Monday from the suburbs of Colombo, according to news reports. The men, who are also trade union activists, may be in government custody. The Committee to Protect Journalists, an international watchdog for media rights, has called upon the Sri Lankan government to locate the missing journos.
