"The U.S. military leveled virtually the entire city [of Fallujah], killed hundreds of desperate civilians, refused to let humanitarian aid workers into the city, and has now left refugees without food, water and medicines. We MUST show the Iraqis and the world community that there are indeed kind, compassionate Americans who ... want to help--not kill--the Iraqi people," says a U.S. group who will send the aid directly to a team of doctors waiting on the Iraqi/Jordanian border.

The peoples and governments of the world face an urgent challenge relating to weaponry of mass destruction and particularly to nuclear weaponry. Nuclear weapons have assumed a far more central role in U.S. security policy in recent years. The Bush administration has signaled its desire to overhaul the US nuclear arsenal by authorizing plans to develop and produce a new generation of nuclear weapons. This will diminish current international attempts to control the proliferation of nuclear weapons and increase the risk of new nuclear arms race. Take action to prevent a devastating nuclear war. Write to the candidates for the 2004 elections and ask where they stand on international treaty obligations to achieve phased elimination of nuclear weapons. Ask if they support redirection of nuclear weaponry funding to meet pressing social needs in education, health and social services.
