Never again? As Holocaust
Days of Remembrance are commemorated from April 23-30, activists are preparing for a Washington, DC
rally to stop the current genocide in Darfur, Sudan. Has the international community learned any lessons about stopping genocide? Preventing genocide—or preventing conflict before it becomes genocide—is no easy task, the work is under-funded, and there is little unity of purpose among governments and international organizations. But, there is at least more strategic thinking about preventing genocide/conflict, more awareness about why it’s vital, less impunity for war criminals, and civil society groups are doing innovative peace building work.
