Il Segretario generale dell'Onu è "profondamente allarmato per la situazione pericolosa in Ciad" ed ha espresso particolare preoccupazione per il "deteriorarsi della già grave situazione umanitaria dei 285.000 rifugiati e di 180.000 sfollati interni che si trovano nel Ciad orientale". Il Consiglio di Sicurezza dell'Onu si riunirà in una sessione d'urgenza per discutere la situazione. Rinviata la missione Eufor Ciad-Rca, rimane da vedere se la Francia deciderà di intervenire a sostegno del regime o lasciare gli eventi fare il loro corso.
