08/29/2005 La Iveco ha querelato il proprio partner in Cina, la Changzhou Changjiang Bus Group Co., per la sottrazione di 15 milioni di dollari. La compagnia italiana ha accusato l'azienda, con la quale ha una joint venture al 50%, di appropriazione indebita di oltre 122 milioni di yuan (più di 12 milioni di euro) e ha annunciato di aver bloccato la produzione di veicoli industriali. "Questa vicenda ha anche un involontario aspetto positivo: potrà finalmente fermare la vendita di veicoli Daily Iveco ai tribunali cinesi che sono utilizzati come camere mobili di esecuzioni delle condanne a morte" - dichiara Amnesty International. Nel dicembre 2003 la Sezione Italiana di Amnesty International aveva scritto alla Fiat segnalando le inaccettabili violazioni dei diritti umani connesse alla vendita dei propri furgoni Daily. La direzione dell’azienda torinese si era limitata a replicare che non era in grado di verificare l’uso dei propri veicoli commerciali da parte dell’acquirente.

08/05/2005 Tra tre anni, l’8 agosto 2008, inizieranno a Pechino i Giochi olimpici e per questo Amnesty International ha chiesto alle autorità cinesi di tenere fede alla promessa di migliorare la situazione dei diritti umani. In preparazione delle olimpiadi continuano le violanzioni contro chi denuncia situazioni al Comitato olimpionico e gli sfratti per lo più illegali. L’organizzazione ha diffuso un elenco di misure concrete e realistiche da applicare. A confermare la chiusura democratica è arrivato l’arresto del giornalista di Hong Kong Ching Cheong, accusato formalmente da Pechino di spionaggio. Intanto continua la pressione della campagna “Biancaneve” che chiede l’uscita del colosso delle armi Finmeccanica dal panel delle sponsorizzazioni delle Olimpiadi invernali Torino 2006, pena il macchiare la tregua olimpica.

08/02/2005 L’Organizzazione Mondiale del Commercio (Wto) sta minacciando il diritto dei consumatori di dire no agli organismi geneticamente modificati. Per Greenpeace gli Usa stanno minacciando i paesi in via di sviluppo per introdurre gli ogm. Forte del 95% degli europei di scettici, in Cina si allarga la contrarietà con il 57% che sceglie prodotti non-ogm. Per monitorare e stimolare una discussione riguardo le politiche commerciali della Cina e gli accordi del Wto è nato il ‘China WTO Network’ che vuole dare voce agli esclusi e agli emarginati in vista della conferenza ministeriale che verrà ospitata a Hong Kong. Intanto nel ‘continente’ cinese cresce la protesta popolare e il Partito continua la violenta repressione.
