09/18/2006 "Italia e Germania fanno la corte alla Cina per ottenere contratti con le imprese statali cinesi: la "Repubblica popolare" cinese è il nuovo mercato da conquistare. A farne le spese sono i diritti umani. La Cina sfrutta all'inverosimile non solo le proprie popolazioni, ma anche quelle al di fuori dei propri confini, come ad esempio la Birmania" (Myanmar) - segnala l'Associazione per i popoli minacciati (APM) che ha dimostrato in Germania a metà settembre con Tibetani, Uiguri e l'organizzazione "Tibet Initiative Deutschland" contro lo sfruttamento selvaggio delle risorse di questi popoli. "Le catastrofiche conseguenze della fame di energia e di materie prime della Cina per Tibetani ed Uiguri non sono però oggetto di discussione dei colloqui economici di Italia e Germania con la Cina" - denuncia APM. Intanto il Consiglio di Sicurezza dell'Onu ha deciso di iscrivere la situazione in Myanmar, una delle dittature del sud est asiatico, nel suo ordine del giorno permanente.

09/12/2006 Kiinalaisen Amity Foundation -järjestön maaseudun kehittämistyön koordinaattori Xie Ying on Suomen Lähestysseuran syksyn Tasaus-vieras. ”Amity on hyvin erilainen verrattuna bisnestä tekeviin yhtiöihin, joissa olin töissä. Se on poliittisesti sitoutumaton kansalaisjärjestö. Ja mikä vielä tärkeämpää: Amityn toiminta apua tarvitsevien kansanosien parissa on todella vaikuttavaa. Olen huomannut, että täällä panostetaan joka suhteessa köyhien auttamiseen”, Xie Ying kertoo järjestöstään.

09/07/2006 Vakavat ihmisoikeusloukkaukset jatkuvat Kiinassa, huolimatta niistä sitoumuksista, joita Kiina antoi edellisessä EU-Kiina –huippukokouksessa Itävallan puheenjohtajakaudella, sanoo ihmisoikeusjärjestö Amnesty International. Seuraava EU-Kiina –huippukokous järjestetään Helsingissä lauantaina yhdeksäs syyskuuta.

09/06/2006 Greenpeace Internationalin mukaan Kiinasta tuotu laittomasti geenimuunneltu riisi on saastuttanut elintarvikkeita Ranskassa, Saksassa ja Isossa-Britanniassa. Greenpeace on muistuttanut päättäjiä siitä, että laittomasti geenimuunneltu riisi on vakava terveysriski. Järjestö vaatii Euroopan hallituksia aloittamaan välittömästi toimet kuluttajien suojelemiseksi. Geenimuunneltu riisi löytyi Greenpeacen ja Maan ystävien Isossa-Britanniassa tekemissä testeissä.
