YK:n Maailman elintarvikeohjelma (WFP) varoittaa, että sen hätäruoka-apu ei riitä miljoonille kenialaisille, jotka eivät ole kuivuuden vuoksi saaneet satoa. WFP:n Kenian maajohtajan Tesema Negashin mukaan varastoissa ei ole viljaa enää syyskuulle. Järjestö vetoaakin lahjoittajiinsa, jotta nälänhätä saataisiin estettyä. WFP ruokkii tällä hetkellä 3,6 miljoonaa kenialaista.

Hankkeessa mukana oleva 11-vuotiaiden poikien joukkue FC Vito pelasi viime viikolla Helsinki Cupissa. Hankkeen myötä lapset pääsevät pelaamaan jalkapalloa – sillä ehdolla, että käyvät myös ahkerasti koulua.
