Migranti dalla Libia intercettati in mare - da meltingpot.org
01/21/2008 L'Italia "sospenda gli accordi stipulati con la Libia in materia di immigrazione" e con l'Unione Europea faccia "immediate pressioni su Tripoli affinché non attui l’annunciato programma di deportazioni di massa". Lo chiedono numerose associazioni italiane in seguito all'annuncio del governo libico di espellere "senza eccezioni" gli immigrati illegali: si tratta di 2 milioni di persone tra cui numerosi richiedenti asilo e rifugiati provenienti principalmente dal Corno d'Africa. Le associazioni chiedono inoltre al governo italiano di rendere noto "il contenuto degli accordi a oggi stipulati con la Libia nel settore dell'immigrazione e i costi che l'Italia intende sostenere". Ma il Governo italiano sembra più interessato a proteggersi dalle "immigrazioni clandestine" facendo affari con Gheddafi: proprio mentre Tripoli annunciava le espulsioni, Alenia Aeronautica (Finmeccanica) ha siglato con la Libia un contratto di oltre 31 milioni di euro per la fornitura di un velivolo da pattugliamento marittimo ATR-42MP Surveyor.

01/18/2008 Sudanin hallituksen tuen puute rampauttaa YK:n massiiviseksi aiottua rauhanturvaoperaatiota Sudanin Darfurissa. Yksikään YK-maa ei myöskään ole luvannut rauhanturvajoukoille niiden tarvitsemia helikoptereita.
