Here’s Some “Food for Thought” on climate change and our energy future:

  • If the earth typically goes through periods of warming and cooling, why should we be concerned about global warming now?
  • Is the mainstream media paying enough attention to the impacts of climate change on poor countries?
  • In view of the opposition by some countries, do targeted emissions reductions make sense? If not, what are the alternatives?
  • What do you think about voluntary vs. regulatory approaches to combating carbon emissions?
  • How realistic is it to lessen a global addiction to fossil fuels? Or, what needs to happen to lower our reliance on these energy sources?
  • Europe is far ahead of the U.S. on supporting renewables. Will these differing approaches hurt the U.S. over the longer term, or not make any difference?
  • Do you think that local and regional initiatives supporting clean energy will have a significant impact on national policies?
  • Are populations in industrialized countries serious enough about adopting sustainable lifestyles? How “just” are such lifestyles in a global context?
