Here are some points to ponder on fair trade:
  • Some non-governmental organizations don’t believe that it’s effective to try to negotiate with institutions like the World Trade Organization. What do you think of this approach?
  • In the context of the global trading system overall, do you think the sale of fair trade products can have much of an impact?
  • How do you think indigenous producers can be given more of a voice in the fair trade system?
  • Will collaboration between Northern and Southern groups always be necessary?
  • What difference might it make to you, as a consumer, if only a certain percentage of a company’s products are fair trade?
  • What do you think about multinational corporations getting into this business? Is “bigger better” in this case?

OneWorld U.S. thanks you for your time, interest, and commitment!
