Global Giving Support the agriculture project of your choice through Global Giving’s online marketplace, which connects donors with initiatives around the world. A donation of just $10 covers the capital for a Guatemalan family to buy and raise three chickens, while a donation of $50 will provide organic farming training for 15 women in India. You can also create a registry through their gifts page.
Heifer Project International Visit the Get Involved page of Heifer International, which fights world hunger by promoting sustainable agriculture and sharing the offspring of gift animals with others in need. Find out how you can volunteer or read through Heifer’s tips on everything from creating less waste to growing your own food or helping small farmers by eating local food. Oxfam America

Then, take a quiz to see just how much you know about this topic. ____________________________________________ Support Other Initiatives: American Humane Society If you just can’t give up those steaks, find out more about how to choose meat products where the cattle, hogs, sheep, and poultry have been treated humanely. Eat Grub Find out if there is Grub Tour event going on near your home where you can learn more about the latest revolution in sustainable food and farming. Food and Water Watch Food and Water Watch’s mission is to prevent corporate control of the essential resources of food and water. Their Take Action page features links to campaigns you can support, including advocacy toolkits to encourage companies like Starbucks to keep hormones out of your milk! International Society for Ecology and Culture (ISEC) To get some food for thought on our global food supply, check out ISEC’s fact sheet or global index. If you live in the U.S. and want to spread the word about this work, request your very own U.S. Local Food Toolkit. Local Harvest If you live in the United States, you can use Local Harvest’s Web site to find farmers' markets and family farms near where you live. Just type in your zip code to find out where you can buy produce, grass-fed meats, and other goodies that are grown in sustainable ways. National Campaign for Sustainable Agriculture Sign up for action alerts at the Get Involved page of the National Campaign for Sustainable Agriculture, which is a nationwide partnership of individuals and organizations cultivating grassroots efforts to promote sustainable agriculture. The site also features links to jobs and internships, or, if you are already working, ways that your organization can partner with the campaign. Organic Consumers Association Visit the Action Center of the Organic Consumers Association and learn more about their efforts to promote sustainable, healthy agriculture. Find the campaign that matters to you and make a difference, whether by signing a petition, hosting a house party, or volunteering to raise awareness in your own community about the association’s work. The Rainforest Alliance Find out about the agriculture program of the Rainforest Alliance, which certifies agriculture products using their own social and environmental standards to promote sustainability. See which products you buy get their seal of approval. Sustainable Table Get Involved with Sustainable Table, an organization dedicated to the sustainable food movement. Check out their Eat Well guide and spread the word throughout your community. Take action by contacting your representative about the national campaigns that matter to you or discover ways that you can make a difference on a local level. **Get talking!
