08/13/2004 Rights group Human Rights Watch (HRW) has called on the Zimbabwe government to release information on grain availability in the country as part of its obligations to ensure its citizens' right to food. It called on the government to make the information public immediately saying that by withholding vital information on grain availability, the government was "gambling with its citizens' access to food".

08/11/2004 Armed militias are continuing to commit atrocities against civilians in Sudan's troubled western region of Darfur despite claims by Khartoum that the situation has improved, Human Rights Watch (HRW) has said. HRW said that instead of disarming the Janjaweed militias, Khartoum has begun incorporating them into the police force.
